Special Mention - New
York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) Trial Lawyers
Care would like to express its appreciation and admiration for the outstanding
work of the New York State Trial
Lawyers Association, which was on the front line of response in the immediate
aftermath of the September 11th tragedy. NYSTLA's offices are located in
lower Manhattan, and that day - and the ones that followed - found its staff taking
in and helping those victimized and displaced by these attacks. Soon after,
NYSTLA's Officers and Executive Committee voted unanimously to provide pro bono
representation to all victims eligible to seek compensation from the Fund established
by Congress. The association immediately recruited hundreds of its members to
volunteer their expertise for this cause.
NYSTLA also produced on short notice an exhaustive
booklet for the victims of the attacks and their
families, entitled Benefits,
Assistance and Compensation: Where To Get Help.
This booklet has become a template for all that
we now do today.
