This page will be updated regularly and will provide all volunteer lawyers involved with the Trial Lawyers Care program the latest information regarding CLE programs and training,
as well as all materials necessary to participate in this program.

Please Note: Qualified Attorneys handling cases under the federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund should access materials in The Trial Lawyers Care Qualified Attorneys Resource Site. You will need your password to enter.

Important Note: All Trial Lawyers Care programs and materials are free to all Trial Lawyers Care lawyers who have volunteered their services through Trial Lawyers Care, Inc., and all other lawyers providing pro bono services who agree to sign Trial Lawyers Care's Pro Bono Pledge. For all other participants, the cost of these programs (including materials) is $150. The cost of materials alone is $65. Important Training Information

1. Free Training for Attorneys Working on 9/11 Comp Fund - March 1, 2004

The National Center for Victims of Crime has asked us to let you know that it is offering a free training for attorneys who are representing victims in claims to the federal Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund. The training will focus on practical strategies for presenting effective claims and on recent developments with the Fund. All attorneys representing Sept. 11 victims are encouraged to attend.

1. NYSTLA Training Session Materials
NYSTLA made audio and video tapes of the November 6, 2002, training session for TLC volunteers in New York City and is offering them at cost, which includes CLE accreditation if you are eligible. That cost is $35 for the three audio tapes or $40 for the two video tapes. 2. Victim Compensation Fund CLE Course Materials
Trial Lawyers Care presented a Victim Compensation Fund CLE course at the ATLA Annual Convention in Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Click here to order course materials.

Internal Revenue Service Publication 3920:
"Tax Relief for Victims of Terrorist Attacks Act."

The Internal Revenue Service has just released Publication 3920 (Adobe PDF File -click here to get Adobe Reader for free), which explains the scope and application of the recently passed "Tax Relief for Victims of Terrorist Attacks Act." This Act provides tax forgiveness on federal income tax liabilities for decedents who died as a result of the September 11 attacks, as well as a result of the Oklahoma City attack and any of the anthrax attacks. It also declares that payments from the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund and from various disaster relief, death benefit and public safety survivor payments will not be regarded as income for tax purposes.
